Something new! All winners of our challenges, including Layout of the Week, will be eligible to receive 10% off any 2012 Kits-includes Add-ons!

Here is my first page using the main kit only:

Lots of fussy cutting and I used the kit's cheesecloth and pearls to make the flowers.

My second layout uses the add-ons and is based on Amy's sketch:

I really love the colors of this one! The cute Prima clothespins hold a pleated ribbon and doily from my stash and the alphas were some horrid hot pink leftovers that I crackled to match. I curled the kit's Tim Holtz film strip using my heat gun and hubby's help!

My last project is a canvas. I have been starting to play with mixed media, as inspired by our March GDT, Limor Webber.

I used the main kit and add-ons and some items from previous ST kits. The twig and the moss are real. I will be giving a simple tute on how I made my brick wall background.

Scrapping Everyday Miracles Sketch Challenge is posted!

I am hosting February's sketch challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles!

The sketch was created by me and I hope you like it!
While I definitely have a  "shabby-chic" tendency,
feel free to interpret the sketch as you see it and in your own style!

** The twist for this challenge is to use distressing on your project! **

I created the sketch from an original previous design of mine and used FotoFlexor editing to convert it into a sketch. I have done this before when I like the bones of a design and then I can see how to re-purpose it!

Here is my original layout:

And here is my new layout:

I hope you take a look at the Scrapping Everyday Miracles blog to see how other DT members interpreted the sketch:here
You have until February 28th at 11:59 pm to submit your creation to the main blog!
The winner will be chosen by Random.com and is eligible for our great monthly prize!

ScrapThat! February Projects!

Hi there! Today I wanted to share my creations made with the gorgeous ScrapThat! February Kit, "With Love." I love Prima and this kit is so perfectly co-ordinated, it almosts scraps itself!

First up is my layout made using only the goodies in the Main Kit:

I started by fussy cutting out the center of the top layer and backing it with cardboard for depth. I wanted a shadowbox effect. I fussy cut postcards and flowers and finally my daughter herself !

I received a Cuttlebug for Christmas and I am having so much fun with it! I made these butterflies with the Tim Holtz die and I am going to do a tutorial on how I created these with an antiqued look.

My next layout uses the Main kit and all the Add-Ons and  Amaryllis' February sketch:

I wanted to create a pinup board feel, with lots of goodies and mementos tucked away.

I searched for my eyelets-haven't used those little guys in awhile but was inspired by a LO in Scrap365. The ribbon is included in the Main Kit.

I water distressed the edges and tucked in cut away sections of the Main Kit's doily. I backed the entire eyeletted (is that a word?) section with cardboard to give it depth and make the foundation secures enough for the layers of items tucked in and hot glued in place.

How seriously darling are these angels from the Embellishment Add-on? I love how it almost mimics my daughter's pose.
Using my Cuttlebug again, I embossed the Bare Basics hearts and the photo mat. Using Gold Rub n' Buff, I antiqued the highlighted areas for more dimension and a little shine ! The Kaisercraft wooden hearts were antiqued and hit with patina.
Now that I made these gloriously girly layouts, and used almost all my flowers up, I wanted to try for a neutral pallate.

I created the flowers and leaves using the cardstock from the main kit with  Sizzix dies and embossed all the Bare Basics hearts with different patterns. This was my first time using these products and I was impressed by the quality and versatility of them. The alpha and doily are from my stash. I gloriously gessoed and misted and had some inky fun with this one. The pic is my Hubs and I while we were still dating-10 years ago!

Thanks for checking out my layouts and hope you will take advantage of all the ways to use this gorgeous kit! Can't wait to see what you create!

SOUS Reveal Day!

Welcome to another Reveal Day friday at SOUS!
Todays' original sketch can be found here:
Leah's Fabulous Sketch

Here is my take on it:

Ok, I got a little carried away, but the bones of the sketch are there! I am using up my old Prima that i have been hoarding to make room for the brand new collections (that I will probably hoard).
The flowers are a mash-up of Manor house, Prima, Recollections, Jo-Lees,Flying Unicorn and Michael's dollar aisle. The pic is of my niece with her sweet toddler faced highlighted in the sun.

Go check out all the layouts our DT created then try your own version of the sketch. Link to our main blog and you just may be picked for the Top 3 !
Happy Friday, everyone!

Scrapping Everyday Miracles February Challenge !

Cue music:

Felicity is hosting February's Challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles.
This month's theme is "Home is Where the Heart Is" and the scrap twist is to use a tag or journal block to tell your story. Check out all the details here.

Here is my page:

This is me, my Senior year of High School in 1986 on the front steps of what will always be the place I remember as "home." Prior to moving here we moved about every year or so until landing in this simple house in Swansea, Massachusetts. This where my brother was born in 1978 and the only house he knew while growing up. As I look back at picture of relatives that I loved and lost sitting in that living room and gathered around the Christmas tree, I reflect on what a blessing this house was. It gave me a center, a safe haven and eventually, a place I had to leave. The swing in the backyard was used by myself,my brother and then my sons. While I was 3 hours away, raising my family, the time came for my parents to move on and buy their own place on the Cape. They were moved out before I could say goodbye to my home and it still saddens me. Whenever I hear this song, it brings me right back to that place and wishing I could just walk around one more time. "Won't take nothing but a memory, from the House that built me."

So what about you? Where do you call Home?
Link up your creation to the main blog site for a chance at our monthly prize!

SOUS 100th Sketch Blog Hop

Welcome! If you came here from
you're hopping along the right path! If not, go to
SOUS to start your hopping journey!

We at SOUS are so thrilled to have you all visiting on a historic
day for Stuck on U Sketches!
Today's post marks our 100th sketch!
How awesome is that, right?
And to celebrate in a big way we have invited our entire Design Team
to join in our sketch challenge!
An additional challenge was to use this as a layout sketch or transform
this into a card design! The surprise in the blog hop is waiting
to see what everyone did!

Now we just couldn't let a big day like today go without a bit of a treat
for you all so we have a few wonderful sponsors for our hop!

Our very own Lisa Norris of Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbon

Regina Easter of The Cutting Cafe
Any 3 sets of your choice!

And Stephanie of Whimsical Designs
Your choice of 2 stamp sets!

Our only expectation is to be a follower of Stuck on U Sketches
and leave a little love along the way for each team member (this will take
some time so our hop is a week long!) We have 3 sponsors and will
pick 3 winners and we'll have those to post for you on Friday, February 8th.

And some additional sweetness...many of our Design Team
members will be offering blog candy on their personal blogs as well!
So the chances to get a lil' something is pretty awesome, not to mention
all the eye candy with the great projects to see!

Here is our sketch designed by Leah Schaeffer

Here is my interpretation of the sketch:

To keep with the Love theme, I filled it with things I love on my pages: cute babies, beachy things, distressing, sparkle, oodles of flowers and of course, butterflies ! The background "sand" was created by mixing Snow-Tex with tan paint, then a sprinkle of glamour dust. I made a cute little celtic heart out of the rope and playing with my new cuttlebug, created the embossed hearts and leaves.

I am also offering a RAK !
To qualify for my RAK you must become a follower of my blog
and leave me a comment letting me know.

All winners will be announced on Friday,February 8, along with the grand prize winners.

Next on the hop is the fabulous

Sylvie !

Happy Hopping!!
