Angel Canvas with Leaky Shed Studios

Hello, lovely scrappy folks! Today, I'd like to share my latest project using the wonderfully versatile Leaky Shed Studio Chipboards. Using just this Large Damask Flourish piece, I was able to separate 5 separate sections of detailed chippies for my project.

I separated the side sections to use as angel wings. They were painted white, then stamped using the same script stamp as I used on the burlap canvas. As the glossy accent was wet, I sprinkled large cellophane glitter on it. Once dry, I added small pearls as accents.

I then used the 3 remaining pieces as Cornishes by first applying gesso, then Tattered Angels' Glitter Glam. I added crackle as it was still wet to pull up the color into the gel. I layered the top 2 as shown:

Then used the remaining piece to counter balance the dollar store frame.

Some more pearls add to the glamour and add some smooth texture to the burlap canvas and crocheted doily. As always, this is a very 3D project!

Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to stop at the Leaky Shed Studio Store to see all the new collections!

March Scraps of Elegance Kit is Here!

Spring is in the air!
Well,it's snowing over here in New England, USA
but one look at this kit will have you in the spring spirit!

This month's kit is named after after our wonderfully talented designer, Anna Rogalska. I think this kit captures Anna's beautifully romantic style perfectly, and hope she loves it... We are thrilled to present our March Anna's Daydream Kit:

Melinda has paired up Prima's Timeless Memories collection with 7 Dots Studio's Thoughts Keeper collection, added a Finnabair stamp, some Blue Fern Studios chipboard, Reneabouquets butterflies (created specially for this kit), and a few other goodies in this kit. We think it's one of the most versatile kits you can find, with vintage browns, beautiful blues and soft pinks.

We didn't stop with just the Main Kit, though, we (of course) have some beautiful add on kits this month:

Our Patterned Paper Add On (these are the same papers that are in the Main Kit):

Our Coordinating Paper Add On (these papers are not included in our Main Kit):

And last, but certainly not least, our Floral Add On:

Don't hesitate if you like what you see because these tend to sell-out fast!

Leaky Shed Studio reveal: Blackbird

Happy Tuesday!
Today I want to share with you my latest project using Leaky Shed Studio chipboard.
I've seeing a trend of silhouette paintings on Pintrest so I thought I would give it a try using chipboard. Here is the result:

I finger painted the night sky background on to a burlap canvas. I smoothed it out with a wide brush until I was satisfied with the appearance.

I painted the chipboard bird matte black. I used the flourish chippie  to make the large bird branch.

I painted the smaller swirled chippie branch and adhered it to the top right corner for perspective.

The song, "Blackbird" by the Beatles was my inspiration for the canvas.

"Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise."

Have a wonderful day and can't wait to see what you create!

Warm and Fuzzy Baby Project with Leaky Shed Studios!

Hello! Hope the weather isn't too crazy in your neck of the woods. Living in New England, we are buried with over 3 feet of snow! Today's project is a burlap canvas embellished with all things warm, soft and fuzzy. The sweet baby is my dear friend's daughter.

I love her "fierce" pose! She is the baby sister to 2 older brothers so bring on the pink!
The burlap canvas is 12" by 12" and layered with a large crocheted doily and a strip of pink burlap.
I wanted to keep the feel of the project as soft and cozy, just like Maddy snug in her baby blanket.

Using the Leaky Shed Studio Hot Air Balloon chippie, I colored it in with yellow gelato then layered pieces of stretchy baby headbands, lace and some soft pompom trim. I added a "sweet" light bulb embellishment from Prima as a basket. The final touch was adding a small felt flower.

Keeping with the soft and fuzzy theme, I altered the Spring Small Butterfly chipboard. I first glued some pink felt petals to the back of the gessoed chippie. Using baby yarn, I layered in the fluffy wings. The body was created with 3 cut pompoms-I left the strings on the head for antennas. Add 2 sweet pearly eyes and you have a set of adorable butterflies.

Because the chipboard is so sturdy it holds it's shape no matter how much paint, material or glue you add. All my felt flowers were created with the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die and layered. The pink ceramic frame was from the dollar aisle at Michael's and just the right size to balance the hot air balloon chippie.

As you can see, there is lots of depth and soft texture to this project. I hope my friend likes it!
Don't be afraid to load up materials on these chippies and have some fun with your scraps!
Have a creative day!

The Neutral Side if the Scraps of Darkness January Kit

One of the fun parts about being on a kit club DT is challenging myself to use every aspect of the kit. I stay true to my "style" but I like to show how versatile a good kit it-like this one!
So today, I'd like to share a layout created with the neutrals in the kit plus add-ons and some of my own stash. Here is my result:

I'm lucky to have a photogenic daughter who is a good sport about doing photo shoots-I always have a pic for (most) any color scheme. She is an avid book worm and music lover so I knew these papers were perfect!
All the papers shown are from the kit and paper add-ons. I covered an old frame by mod-podging one of the BoBunny cut outs. I fussy cut multiple layers of papers and distressed then inked them.

I love the "smile" embellishments and colored mine in with gold sharpie and affixed it to a beaded ribbon from my stash with glossy enamel. The large ivory doily is also from my stash but the lovely gold lace trim is from the kit-it feels like luxory! I used it again as trim on the right side of my page.

The flowers are from the floral add-on of the February Scraps of Elegance Kit. The metal feathers from the kit were attached to the large flower to add a bit of edge and variety of textures.

These sweet bird chippies are by Blue Fern and included in the kit. First I colored them with peach gelatos and stamped them in brown with a Something Tattered stamp. I added white highlights before covering them with glossy accents. I found some chicken wire chippies from my stash that I added because they coordinate with the BoBunny background paper. I left them bare with Bisque stickles at the joints.

Here's my second bird on the left corner of my page. I added peach gelato to all the black and white flowers to add warmth. The sweet little buttons are from my thrift store stash as well.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

This stunning is kit completely sold out so if you never want to miss out on these fabulous kits, come see how you can become a subscriber here and please stop by our store for all your scrappy goodies!

My first Project with Leaky Shed Studios!

I have missed playing with theses fabulous chippies! The details are beautiful and they come in such a range of styles to fit your style.
My first project is a altered faith Journal.

I really should have taken a before picture. I've been writing in this journal about my prayers, answered prayers and times God showed my clarity and miracles when i did,t expect them.
The original cover was a blah green with plaid.

I used the Blowing Leaves Frame and started by using white gelatos for my base coat.
All the pastel colored sections are also gelato with various sections coated with glossy accents for texture and shine.

I went all shabby with this one, layering distressed papers with thrift store ribbons, buttons and pearls.

After adding lace to both front and back covers,I painted to outside of the pages in a coordinating blue. I fastened a closure with a Tim Holtz large pin and lace to use as a tie.

I hope you enjoyed my project. Look around your house and maybe you can see a good book to alter?

Steampunk cards with Scraps of Darkness January kit

I'm having so much with the Scraps of Darkness January kit!
Everything is perfectly coordinated to make creating a breeze!

Today I want to share 2 steampunk style cards I made yesterday.

I love how the Blue Fern chippies match the BoBunny papers!

You know I can never resist crackling something so I highlighted the balloon heart and chippie basket. The little hearts pop out of the balloon chippie so I colored them with gelatos, reinserted the large one to mimic the pattern and scattered the tiny hearts around the card. Everything on the card except for the one Kaisercraft label comes from the kit and add-ons. I highlighted details with a copper pen, including the butterflies.

My second card features Wonderland's famous rabbit.

Everything on the card is from the kit and add-ons-see how coordinated it is?

The watch part chippies are also Blue Fern which received treatments with metallic rub n buff in gold and pantina. I brought my stickles out to play to created more texture and crackled my chess pieces.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will come and visit our store to see more about our fabulous kits!

First Projects with Scraps of Darkness' January Kit, "Karen's Valentine"!

This is my first official post as a Scraps of Darkness DT member and I am having so much fun with this kit!

You get BoBunny's Star-Crossed collection, Carta Bella's Words of Love collection, some lovely Black Modeling Pate, Blue Fern Chipboard, and so much more! Stop by our store and get yours before they sell out - and while you're there, check out this month's kit add ons!

Here is my first page, created for one of my dearest friends,Maryanne as she holds her newly born granddaughter

I'd had this pic printed up for awhile and the reds and blues of the kit were a perfect match!

These sweet butterflies came in the add-ons and I added some Diamond Stickles, 'cause you have to have bling :) I fussy cut the feathers from the BoBunny paper, glittered those as well and included them in my cluster. The red roses are from my stash and the other Prima blooms on the page are from the Scraps of Elegance Flower Add-on. Sweet!

The mesh you see tucked in here and there is actually from a dollar store scrubby thing. Tthe older I get,the more "whosee whatsits" and "thingamabobs" I see.. :)

There's lots of romantic Blue Fern Chipboard to work with as well! I painted my winged heart with gelatos, added stickles to the feathers and crackled the patina colored heart. The "Love" was also colored with red and white gelatos-sweet and simple!

My next page was inspired by February's Serene Mood Board created by DT member, Renea. See how to enter the challenge at the bottom of this post.

Here's my take:

I was inspired by the soft greys, whites and the robin's eggs to scrap this Thanksgiving day photo in a non-traditional color scheme. I was taking pics of my 4 kids with the backdrop of the first snow of the season for the annual Christmas Card. My niece,Vivian, was inside and wanted to get in the picture too. My sister in law explained the pic was "for family". She frowned and said,"Well,I'm family." How could I resist?

Seriously cute!

I created the white poinsettias using coffee filters and Tim Holz's Tattered Poinsettias die cut. I used a starburst punch for the centers and used the cardstock (add-on) as a layer. The ruffled outer border is also from coffee filters. The large swirl chipboard is from Leaky Shed Studio. I covered it in white puffy paint and glitter.

These sweet Prima resin frames are in the main kit-love them! I cut out the titles from a DCWV stack and filled them in with glossy accents to make little windows!

Like most of my layouts, this one is definitely 3D! It will go into my yearly Christmas page album which, really is now a box!
Thanks for stopping by and I will have some more projects coming up soon!

Check out the rules for the Inspiration board and hope to see you there!

The rules:

1. The challenge starts today and ends Feb. 28th at midnight.
2. Create a layout, canvas, art journal page, or altered item, taking inspiration from this month's Inspiration Board: You can choose inspiration from just one of the images, or several of them. This inspiration can be the quote, the colors, the overall feel of the board, something in one of the pictures on the board - your imagination is the only restriction you have on this!
3. Upload your project into Facebook album, and tell us in the description what you used from the board as your inspiration.

4. For a double entry - post your project on your blog along with the photo of the board and a link to this challenge, and put a link to your post in the description of your photo when you upload here.
5. That's it!

A winner will be chosen on or about March 3rd, and will receive a $40.00 credit in our store (that's enough to buy a main kit of your choosing, or anything esle you like - no expiration on the credit!).

Have fun! ·
