Stuck on U Sketches Reveal!

It's Friday and time for another great sketch challenge from SOUS. This week's sketch comes to us from our very own Leah Schaffer. Check it out here:May 10th sketch of awesomeness

I turned it on it's side and created this:

The pic is of the talented miss Abby Kline, who I swear has the longest legs I've ever seen! I used water distressing for the rumpled edges and pinned them back with a thrift store broach. A tute for the little flowers is here. Both broaches were gold before I hit 'em with Rub n'Buff Silver. The beautiful title is from Scrap FX. I was lucky enough to win a Blog Hop RAK and they were very generous. Here are some closeups:

Be sure to check out the rest of the SOUS DT creations, then try your hand at this sketch yourself. Submit it here  and you just might be picked as a Top 3 and score a spiffy Blog Badge of Honor!

Scrapping Everyday Miracles-May Challenge

It's a new month already and at Scrapping Everyday Miracles, that means it's time for our new main challenge! Tracey S. is hosting this month and here's what she has to say:

Hi it’s Tracey here to share our May challenge with you. Spring is my favorite time of the year with new life springing up all around me. A verse I learned many years ago at vacation bible school is 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” It’s a verse I often reflect and meditate on. I find that my life is constantly changing, and our Lord wants me to put away the old things and embrace the new.

For this month’s main challenge we would like you to share a project that represents something new in your life. You can reflect on a new relationship, a new phase of life, an event that brought change into your life, a new job, hobby, volunteer opportunity, or even a book or Scripture verse that has given you new insight. God blesses us with everyday miracles sometimes big and sometimes small that bring change and new opportunities to our lives. Your project doesn’t need to be about a recent event, but needs to represent something new in your life.

Scrap Twist: Use something on your project that is more than a year old – the older the better, “and” something new to you in 2013. These supplies may be purchased, given to you, or even found objects. Be sure to tell us in your project blog post what these supplies are.

Here is my layout:

For new supplies, I have used new Tattered Angels mist, jewels, stencil and  Prima butterflies and flower from my May ScrapThat! Kit. It is chock-full of all the latest from the Prima Divine line! Check it out here:May ScrapThat! Kit. Everything else is old. I have been holding on to this Prima Rondelle paper forever! I made the felt roses using my spellbinders die. The other flowers were created using Tim Holtz tattered florals die. The oldest things on my layout are the pieces of lace from my stash. I used terra-cotta molding paste for the background and of course, everything gets gessoed.

My new resolution is to be in front of the camera more often. Like most scrappers, I am always the one behind the camera. My daughter wanted to do a "photoshoot" of me for a change and this pic is one of the results. She loved it! I need to focus less on the negative influences that trap me into thinking that I am older, fatter and no pictures should document that. God loves us just as He made us. If God says we are worthy to be loved, who are we to disagree?

Our May Sponsor is:
We started BlueMoonscrapbooking.com 7 years ago hoping we could create a platform that our whole family could participate in. In addition, we wanted to do business the old fashioned way with an emphasis on those things that would let a customer know, "we value your choice to shop with us, thank you". Finally, we wanted to add perspective to the buying decision with video. As online shoppers, we knew it was sometimes hard to tell from the picture, what the product looked like. So we started posting scrapbooking product videos so you could "see" what you were buying. With almost 1,000 YouTube videos, we have been able to feature great scrapbooking companies like Graphic 45, Prima, Crate Paper and Memory Box. An online store located in sunny Tucson, Arizona we ship to customers in the US and all over the world. $50.00 Orders that are shipped in the US receive Free shipping everyday!  Our family at BlueMoon looks forward to you stopping in and shopping with us!

All entries must be linked HERE by May 31th, 11:59pm PST.

*Important: Make sure your link is to the blog post with your project & not just your blog in general...and be sure to remember the SCRAP TWIST!

Vivien needs your help!!

I need to share something important.
Many of you know my niece, Vivien, the subject of many of my layouts, has Cystic Fibrosis.
Despite her hardest puffing, she was unable to
even blow out her birthday candle on her own.

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease that affects the lungs and digestive system and causes the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:
  • clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
  • obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.

A life expectancy of 30-40 years is not good enough.

At, 2 years old, Vivien loves the movie,"The Sound of Music". She can sing "Do Re Mi" with the best of them. As she drapes a blanket around her and pretends she is a bride marching down the aisle, I wonder if that is something she will live to experience. Will she get to graduate? Be a bride? Have children of her own?

She needs more time.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. They fund more CF research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of Foundation support.

If you can spare a dollar or two to help Vivien and children like her have more time, more chances at their dreams and more tomorrows, please click here to learn a little about Vivi's story and how you can help.

Thank you !

Scrapping Everyday Miracles April Sketch Challenge!

This month at SEM we are trying something new!
We have TWO sketches...one layout sketch and one card sketch
Check them out here. Pretty cool, right?
You can take your pick of the two and create either a layout or a card.

                                                       Both sketches are from PageMaps.

The TWIST?...use Washi Tape!

Here's mine:

I was inspired by this quote I found on Pintrest:

Pinned Image

The pics are my youngest,Naomi, and oldest,Hayden, on Easter day. Hayden hates taking pics and being serious for more than 20 seconds. He and Naomi have a special bond which somehow has grown stronger since he left for college. They text each other and chat and then are goofy when together. I didn't want to just scrap the perfect pic, but the silly way they really are.

I used the yummy Kaisercraft 75 cent papers and really love the colors! I used my washi tape on the edges of my photo mats and on my "banner". I fell in love with the little viewmaster paper from EchoPark! The title chippy is from Blue Fern, and I just added clear crackle. The heart locket and lightbulbchippies are from ScrapFX (aren't they cool?) and they were treated to my old standby,Rub n' Buff. I have a tute on the small green newsprint flowers here and here.

SOUS Sketch Reveal !

Welcome to another SOUS Friday sketch reveal! This 2 pager, yup, 2 pager comes to us through the lovely talent of our very own Nanne. Check it out here: Nanne's Awesome 2 pager

Here is my take on it:

I'll confess, I haven't made a 2 page layout in years, since my pages became more and more dimensional. This was really fun to make, though and still has lots of dimension. I need to give thanks to ScrapFX for their generous RAK-All my chippies are from them and treated with a combination of silver embossing powder and perfect pearls in gold.

The story behind the layout is that since my family lives scattered through the state we meet for "Christmas" on a different weekend. Well, with all the snow we didnt end up getting together until March. My husband and I were so looking forward to giving my niece,Vivien with the Barbie Jeep Powerwheel we snagged on Black Friday. We made her come out to the driveway and surprised her with her new car. You can tell by the smile on her face that she loved it!

So,using this sketch and your creative talents,
we are dying to see what YOU create! Link up to the SOUS
blog to take a chance at being voted one of our Top 3!
