Here is my first page based on the April Sketch:

And here is Beggahuna's beautiful sketch:

As you can see I rotated it and, well, it kind of grew from there!

Some close-ups:

My second page evolved from a stolen Facebook Pic of the newest member of our Church (well, the Nursery for now). His name is James and he is just the Sweetest! Here is with his Daddy:

It's a Clean and Simple page because I really wanted to keep the focus on the picture.
Even though the Kit is Tiffany blue it works perfectly for boys too!

My last page is a monochromatic page featuring my daughter and her return to her natural curls. Her room is actually Tiffany blue as you can see in the background.

I am in love with these elegant colors!

This Dusty Attic chippie was first inked with Smooch in Moonlight. The diamonds are (what else) Diamond Stickles and the flames are Perfect Pearl in Bisque. I added perfect pearls in white opal as accent pieces.

SOUS Friday Sketch is here!

Happy Friday all! It's time for a new Stuck on U Sketch!
Today's sketch is by our own Nanne-check out all the lovely DT creations on the link above!

Here is what I created with it:

And here is the original sketch:

I substituted layers of lace for the multiple pictures.

I pick up old lace and trimming at thrift shops-the more tea-stained,the better!

I inked these cute Maya Road Birdcage Chippies with gold and blue then embossed them with a light gold powder.

I hotglued the little buttons (also from the thrift store) and paired them with some peachy Recollections (aka old Prima) flowers. It seemed like a good match for my Prima collection of Princess, Delight and Tea Thyme.

I dry embossed the mat using a Tim Holz Damask folder and added some pearls and..ta da!

Our sponsor this month is Scrapbook Circle

They are generously gifting a lucky winner a $30.00 gift certificate!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you try your hand at our sketch!

April Challenge is up for Berry71Bleu!

It's my turn to host the April Challenge for Berry71Bleu
I don't know about the weather where you are but here in New England/USA winter just won't go away. Since there aren't any flowers yet blooming in my garden, I decided my challenge would be to create your own flowers!

This month we challenge you
 to create a project
 using handmade flowers !

There must be at least ONE homemade flower on your project.
It's not limited to a scrap page-think canvas, home decor, headbands, anything your creative mind can dream up! There are hundreds of flower tutorials out there for flowers made out of paper, felt, cloth, twine, burlap, coffee filters,etc..
For links to all of the flower tutorials pictured above and many more see my Pintrest page here.

Here is my project for inspiration:

We are so blessed to be able to play with the generous products supplied by our sponsors. This month we are featuring 7Dots, Um Wow and The Darkroom Door.I used the papers from the 7 Dots Dreamer Collection (my all time fave) and water distressed my edges with watered down gelatos. I created a background with multiple colors of gelatos, blended with water then stamped with a stamp from the 7 Dots Cold Country Collection. Using the circles from the paper,I created various size Lollipop flowers and tucked them in behind my picture.

The flying bird Um Wow chippie was first colored with gold gelato, Rub n' Buff in patina, then crackled with Ranger Crackle accents. I used UmWow mushroom chippies as foliage by treating them to Stampin' Up Verdigris embossing enamel. I found some beautiful vintage lace at a thrift store and used to create one of handmade flowers and topped it with a Recollection metal flower which was also treated to a patina.

My other flowers were created with coffee filters and Spellbinder Spiral Blossom 1. I spritzed them with Heidi Swapp mists in Gold,Mustard and Turquoise before I rolled them up. Each flower is made up of 2 to 3 blossoms rolled together. The lace pictured above is the same as the lace in my flower and the cameo is from Recollections.

I used the Darkroom Door filmstrip and word strips here, both colored with gelatos and embossed and cracked. The tags tucked in the sides are also Darkroom Door which I shaded and added some seam binding.

This all makes for a chunky layout. I was inspired by a sketch for Once Upon a Sketch and then it took off from there!

I created 3 different types of flowers for this layout and mixed them in with 3 packaged flowers. For the challenge you only have to have at least one handmade flower but you may find it so much fun you make more!

Go to Berry71Bleu to see the prizes and our Challenge rules.
Can't wait to see your beautiful flowers!

March Round Robin Challenge at Swirlydoos!

I love playing in the Round Robin at Swirlydoos!
This is my week to post and here is my page:

This was my first time playing with gelatos and I love the look!

The chippie is an older Dusty Attic piece I heat embossed with Frantage Aged Wine enamel=love the chunky pieces in it. The "twist" for this month is to use die-cuts, so I die cut the leaves with my Cuttlebug and colored them with Patina Rub n' Buff.

The flowers are actually Recollection brand from Michael's that I fell in love with. Paired with Prima's Princess paper and the blues and purples of the gelatos,it made just the dreamy look for this pic of my mom with the street statues in Barcelona,Spain.

Thanks for stopping by!
We are taking sign-ups for the April round Robin here-come join the fun!
You don't have to be a Swirlydoos member of use only Swirlydoo products to play!

Swirlydoos Second Reveal!

Hello all! I'm still creating with the fabulous Swirlydoos' March kit,Salutations.
Here is a layout featuring my beautiful scrappy friend, Laura Gilhuly.

One of the wonderful things about scrapbooking is the opportunity to connect with people you would never have met in daily circumstances. I met Laura when we were on a DT together 2 1/2 years ago and we have been great friends since. While we have yet to meet in person, since we live about 10 hours and a country apart, I consider Laura to be one of my closet friends. I have used the Prima tags to jot some thoughts to her.
Everything on this page is from the kit and add-ons except for a few flowers and ribbon from my stash.
I used lots of misting with Lindy's Stamp Gang and Tattered Angels. The Prima wood fireflies were treated with Rub n' Buff in Patina, then shaded with Quick Quotes ink in Bloody Mary.
As usual,I added lots of texture paste, stamping and distressing to add dimension and depth.

My last project is a canvas inspired by the Casting Crown's song, "Let Me Dream For You"

First, I modpodged the beautiful damask paper with the music sheet as an overlay. I added a layer of texture paste with Diamond Dust sprinkled on before it dried. The frame is a Michael's Dollar Bin find and the doily and lace are from my stash. All the tags and chipboard elements in the kit make layering so easy!

The Salutations kit is sold out but you can still snag some of the Add-ons here.

I was fortunate enough to attend a Casting Crown's concert on my 10th Anniversary and it was such a powerful night of praise and prayer. One song,"Let Me Dream For You," really spoke to my heart about having the faith not to limit yourself and to be open to the plans God has for you.

Take a listen:

Here are the Lyrics:

Hey, David, I hear you've been dreaming
About being a big time shepherd some day
You're gonna prove your brothers wrong
You're gonna sing your shepherd songs
To the cattle on a thousand hills
But I've been thinking..

I'm having trouble with a giant down the road
You're the one who's going to face him toe to toe
Wipe that grin right off his face
And whip this army into shape
I'm going to turn the nation back to Me
And David, you're right about one thing
Your little shepherd songs are going to make the whole world sing
And I'm gonna make you king!

So come on, let Me dream, let Me dream for you
I am strong when you're weak and I'll carry you
So let go of your plan, be caught by My hand
I'll show you what I can do
When I dream for you
I have a dream for you

Hey Mary, I've heard you've been dreaming
Making plans for your big wedding day
You and Joseph are gonna be
The picture perfect family
Maybe a couple of kids down the road
But I've been thinking..

Even before time began
I had a picture perfect plan
Of how to save this broken world
Through the life of just one man
I'm gonna send my only Son
And Mary, you're the one
You were right about one thing
You're gonna have that family
And you're gonna raise a King!

I'm stronger than you think I am
I'll take you farther than you think you can
You sing and call me Great I Am
So take your stand!
My child, if you only knew
All the plans that I have for you
Just trust me, I will follow through
You can follow Me..

Have a wonderful day!

Berry71Bleu, Stuck on U Sketches and Something Tattered Canvas!

Hello! Today I want to share with you my project for Cathi's Luck O' the Irish March Challenge at Berry71Bleu using today's Stuck On U Sketch..

Being Irish myself, I love this challenge!
I decided to create a canvas that reflects on my fiercely Irish oldest son, Hayden.

I used a yellow Manor House flower and the lovely circle chipboard frame from our sponsor, Molassi. Be sure and check out the Stuck On U Sketch and the way the rest of the DT interpreted the sketch! I always have lace and doilies on hand which I added in layers along with some green moss and Prima chipboard.

One of our sponsors this month is Something Tattered, where I am lucky enough to be the DT Coordinator. I used the French Month,"March" stamps as seen below.

For the "luck" aspect, I used this quote from Winnie-the-Pooh:
"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard."

The picture I scrapped is of Hayden and I on the night of his senior Prom. I still remember that moment when the doors to their Party Limo closed and he and his friends were headed off to the dance. The fact that he was really graduating and moving on to the next chapter of his life and I broke down in tears.

I am so proud of him and all he has done and am so hopeful for all the wonderful things that will come to him in the future.

I hope you will join along with us, the challenge will be open till April 1. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

When Beth began hunting wallpaper for the bandboxes she was creating in 1990 it started a life of antiquing adventures and a passion for old paper. In 1993 Beth’s wallpaper covered boxes we featured in Victoria magazine and Beth’s sister Marilyn Krehbiel joined her in the pursuit. Marilyn’s business Hannah’s Treasures evolved into purveying historic wallpapers for movie sets. Beth peddled her boxes to the coast of California and settled in the west. In 1997 Beth married Peter Neumann, son of a letterpress printer, who shared Beth’s appreciation for the old paper arts. In 2011 Peter and Beth began Something Tattered in response to Beth’s newest pursuit, Wedding Paper designs from her vast collection of antique paper. In 2013 Something Tattered launched the current line of craft stamps and in 2014 the new antique wallpaper stamps were added bringing the adventure full circle. We hope you will share the passion.
