July's "Faith" Challenge at Flying Unicorn

It's a new month and that means new challenges at Flying Unicorn !
My challenge is "What does Faith Mean to You?"

Faith can mean many things to different people
Some consider their "religion" [I hate that word],
some think of having faith in family or themselves.
Some reflect on moments when faith was tested, tried or wavering.
Some will hopefully reflect on times when faith carried them through
or perhaps are in a situation where faith is the only way out.
 Here is my inspiration layout:

I am an outloud and proud Christian
and have come to rely on God as the only one strong enough
to get me through this stormy world.
Time and time again, He comes through for me.
Yet, at times my fears, worries and anxieties still threaten to drown my faith.
At those times, I call up the story of Jesus and Thomas..
.he needed only to trust in the Lord and he too,
would not drown but be lifted up out of the waves.
This rustic and simple but powerful cross stands at the lakefront of our
Christian summer camp in Western Massachusetts.
When the storms threaten to overtake me,
I return to what I know is true:
Faith is more than believing God CAN provide,
it is knowing that He WILL provide..
Can't wait to see where this journey takes you..

Stuck On U Sketch June 22 Reveal

Hi there! It's time for a gorgeous new Sketch reveal over at Stuck On U Sketches !
This week's original sketch is by our own Sandi Clarkson.
Here's my interpretation:
This is my daughter, Naomi, right before her Berkshire Idol audition.
[ Our county's version of AI]
She sang the Sugarland song, "Baby Girl" and knocked it out of the park !
We joked because she never wanted to sing the last line, "Dreams come true"
because she felt she couldn't sound enough like Jennifer Nettles to nail it.
Well, dreams came true for Naomi as she advanced to finals and won first place in her age group !
[The video is a few posts back for the curious..]
So I made this for her using my favorite Manor House blooms mixed in with Kaisercraft.
The paper is Theresa Collins from the Flying Unicorn Store and is such high quality, heavyweight
paper with such rich, gorgeous patterns. I'm hooked!
Lots of Prima Almanac goodies and MS punchwork.
I went with a twist on the banner by creating a
Recollections ribbon swag with
Making Memories charms attached by pearl roping.
So go check out the sketch and creations by the rest of the Design Team !
Can't wait to see what you create !

Here is my take on this week's original sketch:

Here is the sketch by our own talented Tammy:

I love the layers and the offset doilies-so different and elegant!
The pic is my daughter playing with my niece.
I used picmonkey's photo editing option "Orton"-love the soft yet vibrant effect.

I used one of my handmade flowers from the Month of Flower tutes at Flying Unicorn-see here:Tutes
along with my fave Manor House blooms available at the Uni store

My First Stuck On U Sketches Design Team Reveal ! !

I am so excited to reveal my first layout as a Design Team member
with the fabulously talented and super sweet ladies at Stuck On U Sketches !
Here is my creation using the June 8 original sketch by Sandi Clarkson.

This features my adorable niece, Vivien, playing out her favorite song:
Itsy Bitsy Spider...again and again..LOL. Everytime she sings "Out comes the sun.." she says it with such wonder and awe..it's seriously the cutest thing :)
I used a combonation of Manor House, Prima, Petaloo and my home-made pom-pom flowers.
The alphas are from the Scrapcake papers and the blingy ribbon from Recollections.
The small crocheted flower is actually a hairclip of my daughters.
Anything left unattended is subject to be scrapped.
The little butterflies are courtesy of Lisa Gregory (thanks!)
So go check out the new sketch and the rest of the Design Team's creations!
Can't wait to see what you create!

Build a Page Tutorial with Shona !

Whoohoo! Who can resist a Shona layout?
The queen of textures and layers has posted a Build a Page Tutorial at Flying Unicorn..go take a look!
I grabbed all the Prima Almanac I had left-LOL and created this:

I used the gesso as well and inked the stencil prior to using the gesso to give it shadowing. I was lucky enough to have 2 last doilies in the same size!
I added a Recollectins ribbon and glossed and blinged out my butterflies.
["Blingyflies" my DD called them] :)
I loved the 3D look of this page and the banners-so fun to make!
Can't wait to see what you all create!

Flying Unicorn Guest Designer is Gabi !!

OH MY GOSH - Do we have a great surprise for all of you this month ... wanna know? We have brought Gabrielle over the border for the month of June as our Guest Designer! Yes we did !! Now, we all know anything she touches turns to a magic and what she has done with the Kit this month will blow your socks off .. but you will have to wait till the 3rd of June to see ..

I am still in awe that we have captured her ... and without further delay may I present the one and only Gabrielle Pollacco ... ( PS do not forget to congratulate her on her first scrapbook cover - what an accomplishment!

My name is Gabrielle Pollacco, I live in Cambridge, Ontario (Canada). I started scrapbooking about 7 years ago and fell in love with this art form from the very first page I made. I love that this art form is ever changing and find myself constantly inspired by all the wonderful new products that come out each year. My favourite thing to scrap about is my family, my dear husband and my two girls, as well as my extended family.

I've had the honour to be on a number of wonderful design teams over the years, some of my past design teams being Daisy D's and Zva Creative and am presently on the Bo Bunny, Webster's Pages, Dusty Attic, The Color Room and Scrap 365 Magazine (UK Magazine). I've had my work published in Memory Makers Magazine, Creating Keepsakes Magazine and Scrapbooking & Beyond Magazine as well as a number of online magazines. I worked for a Tradeshow Design company as a project manager before I had my babies and now that I'm a stay at home mom I'm fortunate enough to have a little time to enjoy this amazing hobby.
I'm delighted to have been asked to be a Guest Designer for Flying Unicorn and join in with the talented group of designers here for this month!
Gabi xx
