We would love to see YOU create a layout or mixed media project that represents a new chapter in your life. Whether you have already begun this journey or you are thinking about it, we want to know about it. Sometimes we are forced to start a new chapter for reasons that are beyond our control. Other times we have been anticipating it for a really long time. Perhaps you are only in the beginning stages of this new venture or maybe it's a life long dream and you have been held back by fear. Is your new chapter exciting or sad? Either way, others will be blessed when you share your story.

Linking up your project to the SEM blog will give you an extra entry to win!

There is an optional twist to use book pages, typography, anything that relates to "turning a new page/chapter"-let your creativity out!

We can't wait to see what you create! The blog hop will end on Monday,October 1 at 11:59 PDT but you have up to October 5th, 11:59 PDT to link up your challenge creation to the SEM blog !

Here is mine:
I chose to scrap about my oldest son, Hayden's new chapter. This summer he and his friend went to Haiti on a mission trip. This trip was an awakening to my son. Prior to the trip, things such as how soon he could update his iPhone were his priority. After 10 days of working alongside and caring for the gentle and impoverished Haitian people, with no electricity, no water and no media, his priorities suddenly changed.
He was very impressed with importance of worship in Haiti. Despite the above conditions, the congregation dresses to the nines and the worship is an all-day event. He was struggling to grasp how they could praise God in their struggles. I explained that when you have faith in a promise of eternity with God, the troubles of this life are seen as temporary. Not easy, but temporary.
Soon after his return, our town mourned the loss of a classmate killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan. His former high school classmates gathered together to say goodbye to their brave friend. The combination of these events has led to Hayden seeking to know more about salvation. Soon after, he accepted Jesus as his savior. Whoohoo!
As I was creating this, the song "East to West" by Casting Crowns kept playing in my head.
Hayden is a new and young Christian man in a challenging time. I pray that I am able to support and guide him so that he too will be a
able to keep the faith.

Thanks for joining me!

New SOUS Sketch-Back to School !

It's another Friday and I have a great new sketch to showcase by our own Sandi Clarkson-go check it out here: Sandi's September 28 Sketch . I thought it was perfect for those back to school pics! Here's my take on the sketch:

This is my daughter in last year's first day of school pic. I combined Prima's yummy new Romance Novel with the older, but still yummy, Almanac and Printery. The felt flowers are Clearance Aisle Jolees that have been waiting for a home. The edges of the PP are water distressed and I edged the base paper with some more vintage store lace.
The Romance Novel papers come with cut out packets. I though this was great for including my journaling to my daughter, that she can read when she unearths the mountain of Layouts I will have created by the time she is 18! The various chippies are also Prima.
I coated this cute Fabscraps diecut with terra cotta paste and sprinkled in some glitter dust while it was still wet. After it dried, I edged it in black chalk and gave them some Onyx Perfect Pearl eyes.
Hope this gave you some ideas! Can't wait to see what you create!
Have a Blessed day, Tracey

SOUS Reveal Friday!

Hi there! It's another Friday and another great sketch from Stuck on U Sketches!
Check out today's original sketch by our talented Sandi Clarkson: Sandi's Awesome Sketch
Here is my interpretation:

I used the yummy new Prima Romance Novel papers and chippies from The Flying Unicorn Store.
Lots of water distressing and inking and misting. It struck me as kind of a shabby-romantic-steampunky-Baron of Munchausen feel, so I went with it. This is my sweetie, niece,Vivien, again. I just love that she is at the age of almost 2 and the world is a wondrous place!

I covered the baloon chippie with Ranger glossy accents and sprinkled Glitter dust while it was still wet. The glitter is trapped inside the hardened gloss and it looks cool IRL.

The Tattered Angels alphas and doilies were treated to Rub n' Buff in Patina then rubbed with Antique Gold. The butterfly is a thrift store find :)
So, now its your turn..can't wait to see what you create !

Blessings, Tracey

Flying Unicorn and Mojo Monday

Happy Monday! Is there such a thing?
Well, there always is at Flying Unicorn because that's when we debut our Mojo Monday sketch!
This weeks original sketch is so cool!

I knew I wanted to keep a blues pallete and what better than a beach theme?
I flipped the sketch and created this:

I used different collections of blues left over from September's KOM and others from the Flying Unicorn store. The flowers are all Recollection and I even used some older Glitz gems. The fibers are a mix of burlap and spanish moss and some corkboard. The pic is my children's cousin,Taylor, looking gorgeous and happy on the beach. The layout reminded me of the Francesca Battistelli song, "Free to Be Me." I will leave you with that song and hope your Mojo has been given a jumpstart!

Flying Unicorn KOM-Vintage Harmony

Hi there, talented folks! Tracey here with 3 layouts created with the KOM-Vintage Harmony. We know Alda's kits are always versatile but this one is incredible! I was able to make layouts with completely different looks!

This first one, kinda shabby/grungy,features my daughter and her sister goofing around in a hat store. They are sisters, both adopted into separate homes who found each other last year when they ended up on the same soccer team. My journaling and the Kaisercraft bingo cards reflect my happiness for them. Don't you love the polaroid frame? You get multiple sizes with the kit, too!  Lots of water distressing done here with the pearlescent watercolors from the June kit-love them!

My next one, kind of fresh and classic, features my neice,Vivi, who is such a treasure to me! I did some folding work with the doilies on the title and the cluster and highlighted the frame of the pic with some of the elegant lace from the kit. Can you see the gate chippies? I treated them to gold rub n'buff and copper liquid pearls.

The last one for today,in a inky/girly mode is my daughter,Naomi after her "makeover" by a friend. She was feeling quite fabulous and I had picked up the title tag ages ago, knowing someday it would be perfect! I cut the background design with my underused Cricut and misted the page and the doilies with the included copper mist and mists from my stash!
I hope my examples show some of the many directions you can take with this kit!
Thanks for reading and have a blessed day!
