The pic is my daughter several years ago, playing under the tree. I made the flowers using my McGill Lily punch, lots of glamour dust and perfect pearls.

This is one inspired by Amy's sketch:

This is my newlywed friends in their Mary and Joseph roles during our church's Living Nativity. Since this is also their first Christmas as a married couple, I thought "The First Noel" was a fitting title.

Here is my 3rd-worked in some pink to match Vivi's coat-will be doing a BAP on this page later this month.

Merry Christmas !!

The Real Meaning of Christmas !

Luke 2

New International Version (NIV)

The Birth of Jesus

2 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Merry Christmas to all my scrappy friends and their loved ones!

SOUS Reveal Friday!

Happy Friday! In the midst of your Christmas hustle and bustle, we offer you this original sketch by our very own Sandi Clarkson. Take a look here !
After making multiple Christmas themed layouts,
I decided to go girly and use up the very last of my ScrapThat! October kit.
Here is my interpretation:

This is my neice,Vivi and her very first BFF, Maya. Aren't they just the sweetest together? What makes this extra-special is that their fathers have also been best friends since Kindergarten. Too cute!

Technique-wise, I have used lots of fussy cutting and foam to make the layers of circles 3-dimensional. It is misted and inked and glittered to death as well.
The die-cut flowers were a RAK from Scrap365, that I crackled and hit with some gold Rub'n Buff.
So there you have it! Now it's your turn!
Link up to the main blog and maybe you could be voted one of the Top 3!
Have a very Merry Christmas!

Snap,Crackle & Pop Tutorial

Today I am going to show you how I made the multi-layer crackle effect on my trees in my "Oh,Holy Night" layout below:
The materials I used were:
2 Dusty Attic trees
Hunter Green Acrylic Paint
Holtz distress Crackle paint in Shabby Shutters
Hunter green ink
Ranger clear Crackle Accent

The technique is my spin on techniques I found on the Dusty Attic Blog. When looking for new chipboard treatment ideas, they have tons to offer!
So let's Start:

I also used a similar treatment on the Dusty Attic angel on my "Peace" layout:

So put your own spin on it and give it a try!
Have a great week!

SOUS Reveal Day!

I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season! It can get hectic this time of year so that is all the more reason to set aside some scrappy time for yourself. Play with the things you happened to find on sale at Michaels..To get you in a holiday scrapping mode is this awesome new sketch by our own Sandi Clarkson. Check it out here: Stuck on U Sketches Dec 7 Reveal. Play along and link up to the blog and you just might be picked as a Top 3 and snag our snazzy blog badge ! It dosen't have to be a Christmas layout as our DT so artfully demonstrated. However...

 Here is my interpretation:

I challenged myself to make a Christmas layout without using any Christmas themed items. The papers are a mix of Prima and BoBunny. The star was a cricut cut and the frame from Imaginarium.

The picture is just the front of a Christmas card. What I loved about it is that Joseph is the one holding the Baby Jesus. See, I think Joseph dosen't get enough credit for being the best stepdad ever. He faced ridicule and scorn for staying with Mary, but loved her and stayed by her side anyway. (OK, so an angel had to help convince him, but still admirable).  There is something just so human and relatable in the nativity story. Anyone who has ever held a newborn in awe can start to understand their joy.

One of my favorite Christmas songs is by MercyMe called "Joseph's Lullabye".  I attached the video at the end for the curious.
Here are the lyrics:

Go to sleep my Son
This manger for your bed
You have a long road before You
Rest Your little head

Can You feel the weight of Your glory?
Do You understand the price?
Or does the Father guard Your heart for now
So You can sleep tonight?

Go to sleep my Son
Go and chase Your dreams
This world can wait for one more moment
Go and sleep in peace

I believe the glory of Heaven
Is lying in my arms tonight
Lord, I ask that He for just this moment
Simply be my child

Go to sleep my Son
Baby, close Your eyes
Soon enough You'll save the day
But for now, dear Child of mine
Oh my Jesus, Sleep tight

Makes me tear up everytime! So..go get scrappy and link up to us so we can see your amazing creations! Merry Christmas !

ScrapThat sponsors Scrapping Everyday Miracles December Challenge !

Hi Everybody ! I am loving my own little cross-over episode because ScrapThat! Kit Club has graciously sponsored the December Main Challenge that I am hosting at Scrapping Everyday Miracles !
Folks that know me, know that from Thanksgiving day to Christmas, I am that person at the store singing along to the muzac, that person at work that decorates the office, that car blasting Trans-Siberian Orchestra and the embarrasing Mom with the Christmas socks on. I draw joy from listening to my daughter sing in the choir, crafting ornaments with my church family and planning our live Nativity event. Christmas is so much more than the mere presents under the tree.

God wants his children to have joy !

"Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!"
Psalm 32:11

This month’s challenge theme is to scrap where you find joy in this holiday season.
The scrap twist is to include glimmer and/or sparkle on your layout.Mists, glitter and stickles are some ideas. Make it sparkle for the season!
There are so many ways to experience God’s joy in this holiday season! I find beauty in the carols, magic in the lights and peace in the falling snow. Every year my kids and I make cocoa and put on our jammies to drive around and admire the houses all lit up so beautifully! I am so thankful to my God for the blessings of family, friends and children. The highlight of my Christmas is the Christmas Eve service at my church. It’s a time to reflect on the birth of my savior and refocus on the reason for the season.
Here is my inspiration Layout:

I tried to capture the beauty of the season along with my joy-filled pic of me and 3 of my children at our Christmas Eve celebrations.{ I apologize for the quality of the pic, but my camera declined to cooperate and I used my phone camera.} I don't often like pictures that I am in, but my happiness is so evident in this simple picture.
I am so proud of my family and our coming back to the Lord. By Christmas Eve, I am so overwhelmed with my blessings that I can't help but share my joy!

Stop over at Scrapping Everyday Miracles and see what the rest of our Design Team has to share with you.

Along with the oppurtunity to snag our "Top 3" blog badge of honor, you could win..
