First Projects with Scraps of Darkness' January Kit, "Karen's Valentine"!

This is my first official post as a Scraps of Darkness DT member and I am having so much fun with this kit!

You get BoBunny's Star-Crossed collection, Carta Bella's Words of Love collection, some lovely Black Modeling Pate, Blue Fern Chipboard, and so much more! Stop by our store and get yours before they sell out - and while you're there, check out this month's kit add ons!

Here is my first page, created for one of my dearest friends,Maryanne as she holds her newly born granddaughter

I'd had this pic printed up for awhile and the reds and blues of the kit were a perfect match!

These sweet butterflies came in the add-ons and I added some Diamond Stickles, 'cause you have to have bling :) I fussy cut the feathers from the BoBunny paper, glittered those as well and included them in my cluster. The red roses are from my stash and the other Prima blooms on the page are from the Scraps of Elegance Flower Add-on. Sweet!

The mesh you see tucked in here and there is actually from a dollar store scrubby thing. Tthe older I get,the more "whosee whatsits" and "thingamabobs" I see.. :)

There's lots of romantic Blue Fern Chipboard to work with as well! I painted my winged heart with gelatos, added stickles to the feathers and crackled the patina colored heart. The "Love" was also colored with red and white gelatos-sweet and simple!

My next page was inspired by February's Serene Mood Board created by DT member, Renea. See how to enter the challenge at the bottom of this post.

Here's my take:

I was inspired by the soft greys, whites and the robin's eggs to scrap this Thanksgiving day photo in a non-traditional color scheme. I was taking pics of my 4 kids with the backdrop of the first snow of the season for the annual Christmas Card. My niece,Vivian, was inside and wanted to get in the picture too. My sister in law explained the pic was "for family". She frowned and said,"Well,I'm family." How could I resist?

Seriously cute!

I created the white poinsettias using coffee filters and Tim Holz's Tattered Poinsettias die cut. I used a starburst punch for the centers and used the cardstock (add-on) as a layer. The ruffled outer border is also from coffee filters. The large swirl chipboard is from Leaky Shed Studio. I covered it in white puffy paint and glitter.

These sweet Prima resin frames are in the main kit-love them! I cut out the titles from a DCWV stack and filled them in with glossy accents to make little windows!

Like most of my layouts, this one is definitely 3D! It will go into my yearly Christmas page album which, really is now a box!
Thanks for stopping by and I will have some more projects coming up soon!

Check out the rules for the Inspiration board and hope to see you there!

The rules:

1. The challenge starts today and ends Feb. 28th at midnight.
2. Create a layout, canvas, art journal page, or altered item, taking inspiration from this month's Inspiration Board: You can choose inspiration from just one of the images, or several of them. This inspiration can be the quote, the colors, the overall feel of the board, something in one of the pictures on the board - your imagination is the only restriction you have on this!
3. Upload your project into Facebook album, and tell us in the description what you used from the board as your inspiration.

4. For a double entry - post your project on your blog along with the photo of the board and a link to this challenge, and put a link to your post in the description of your photo when you upload here.
5. That's it!

A winner will be chosen on or about March 3rd, and will receive a $40.00 credit in our store (that's enough to buy a main kit of your choosing, or anything esle you like - no expiration on the credit!).

Have fun! ·
