from our Design Team.
We have been scrapping away and
are so excited to show you our creations!

Here is my first layout, using only the goodies from the main kit:

I made the snowflakes in the background with molding paste and a snowflake stencil from Wal-mart. I sprinkled in some Glamour dust while it was still wet for some extra sparkle.

Here is my second Layout, based on Amarilys' gorgeous sketch:

The pic is from the Radio City Music Hall's Christmas show in New York City. The final nativity scene is so powerful and beautiful. The trees are from my Dusty Attic stash. Did you know ScrapThat! is also a carrier of Dusty Attic? Very cool.

My third layout is also a combination of the main kit and the add-ons,with the doilies from my stash.

 Aren't these Prima flowers stunning?
The Dusty attic pieces here are both from the kit.

SOUS Reveal Day!

I hope all my American friends had a happy Thanksgiving!
If you are reading this on Black Friday, I am getting my Christmas season started, Dunkin Donuts in one hand and flyers in the other! Whoohoo!

Also exciting is the latest Stuck on U Sketches challenge!
Click on the link to see the sketch and the DT's inspiration layouts!
I love the simplicity yet strong graphic element of the sketch, which allows for the range of interpretations!

Here's mine:

Isn't she a cutie? I love this pic of my then-newborn neice so not loving Santa!
I bought waaaay to much Christmas paper last year and am still making layouts with it but love these Kaisercraft Father Christmas and BoBunny Dec 25 papers.

The foliage is all from Michaels and (gasp) the Dollar Store.
That snow? The spray snow in a can.
This is not an only copy of my pic, heirloom type layout
so I just had fun and sprayed the stuff on like misting.

This came out very cool! I started with a Dusty Attic ornament chippie and painted it red, with a crackle medium overlay. Then painted the gold top coat unevenly to help make it look round. I added Ranger crackle on top of it and just-so-lightly used the heat gun to add the little bubbles and make it look like a glass marble. I love the textures!
Then hit it wih some fake snow!

I hope this gives you a little nudge to get creative with this week's sketch!
Link up to the Stuck on U Sketches website and you could snag our "Top 3" badge!

Tulle Flower Tutorial-Guest DT for ScrapThat!

Today I am going to show you how to make a easy and thrifty tulle flower like the ones below:

Tulle is readily found at any craft store but I can find large rolls of it at my Dollar Store in the "Bridal Aisle". If I overheat and melt a layer,it's not a big cost! You can mist and alter the colors as you wish. I created the black flowers from the ScrapThat! November Kit and the cream flowerswere spritzed with peach glimmer mist.
Let's begin!

And there you have it!
Some points to note-the layers can can get quite hot,
so keep your fingers out of the way, please!
Try heating the layers separately or all at once for a more cohesive look.
I kind of like mine rumpled. I find that the gems adhere better with glossy accents than glue-it dries nice and clear, too!
There are so many ways to alter this flower to your project!
Have fun with it and can't wait to see what you create!

November's Sketch Challenge is up on the SEM blog!

Hi there!
This month, Nicole is hosting the sketch challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles.
Isn't this a fun one? The twist is to feature numbers in some way..

Here is my take on the sketch:

I turned the sketch on it's side and wanted to think outside the box with how to incorporate the circles. I ended up making 3-D circles in the style of birthday blowers! I continued to add swoops and circles around the layout as well. the paper is some older Prima that has been waiting for the right pic. This is my sweetie-Pop neice, Vivien as she blows out the candles to her 2nd Birthday. Last year, her birthday coincided with a freak October blizzard:

While it was beautiful in it's own way, we soo appreciated this October's 70 degree day!
So, head over to the Scrapping Everyday Miracles Blog to check out the DT inspiration layouts and learn  more about what you could win!

SOUS reveal day!!

Happy Friday!
Time to take a peek at our latest sketch challenge at Stuck on U Sketches!
This week's original sketch is by our own Leah.
 Here is my interpretation:

This little sweetie is my very good friend's grandaughter. I saw this unbelievable picture and asked if I could scrap it. She will be getting this as a Christmas Gift-Shhh! I wanted to do this picture justice so I scrapped with some more of the beautiful  October ScrapThat! kit featuring Prima's Tea Thyme.
I applied black ink to the Kaisercraft wooden flower that also comes with the kit, then applied 2 layers of white crackle distress paint. I then glued on a Prima Almanac chippie to complete my shabby flower.

I kept the basic design of the sketch by substituting 3 sections of  paper and adding the one large pic to suit my layout. Don't be afraid to go where the design leads you!

I hope you will try this sketch out and link it back to the main site for a shot at snagging our Top 3 blinkie badge of honor!

Can't wait to see what you create!

Scrapping Everyday Miracles-Challenge #22 !

Cara is hosting this month's challenge at Scrapping Everyday Miracles with the theme of scrapping about your "Family Ties". The definition of Family is up to you. There are the family you are born into, your family at church or work or dear friends that have become family.
The twist this month is to use ribbon on your layout. Get it.."ties"? Wicked cute.

 Here is my inspiration layout:

Using the  October ScrapThat! kit, I created a layout about the miracle that has occured in my family in the face of something awful. Many of you know, my sweet niece, Vivien:

Vivi's 2nd Birthday

Vivi has Cystic Fibrosis, "a disease passed down through families that causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs, digestive tract, and other areas of the body. It is one of the most common chronic lung diseases in children and young adults. It is a life-threatening disorder."(PubMed)

The last 2 years, a growing group of Vivien's family and friends gather to raise funds for CF research by participating in the Great Strides fundraiser. Our team,"Viver's Givers" has raised over $30,00 in 2 years!Alhough we wish CF was not a part of our lives, the annual get together is a testimony to the amazing power of love and dedication.
Our "Team" family consists  of Viv's parents,Grandparents, Aunts,Uncles, cousins and many family friends of all of us. We don our Tee-shirts and do our part to help Vivi and the thousands of others with CF. I am so grateful to know all of Vivi's extended family and so proud to be a part of this "team."

So..enough about me..what is your miracle? How do you define "family"? We would love to see your creation (don't forget to include the twist!) and you could win this awesome prize!
