How lucky can a girl get?
My LO was picked for last week's
scrapping the music challenge
and everyone who enters get a chance to win the
monthly RAK-it was also me !
Lookie how generous they are:.

They are changing their format as well:
"We will be having our challenges twice a month, instead of every week. Each time we post however, we will be giving you TWO choices/challenges.

The first will be a song prompt, just like we've been doing all along. The second prompt will also be music-related, but it might be a question, or a subject, or anything else we decide to come up with! You can choose to do the song, or the question, or both, and you will have two weeks to link us up!"

The next challenge start April 1st-check them out!

Just Breathe-Scrapping the Music Winner !

I am so honored to have been chosen
as the winner of the Scrapping the Music Challenge
There were so many gorgeous entries !
This Challenge Blog has a great theme:

"Do you ever listen to a song and get caught up in the words....lost in your thoughts and emotions? Music can inspire and release creativity in all of us. Scrapping The Music was created as a pure means of inspiration for creating scrapbook pages, art journal pages or any other art project from the heart. Each week we will choose a song for inspiration. Your challenge is to use this song to create something full of passion, emotion, or just pure fun"

Thank you to the Design Team and can't wait to see the song pick for the April 1st Challenge !
Isn't she a cutie?
This is Abby, my Pastor's daughter-she is a hoot and a half!
I have never seen so much energy and joy exuding from one little girl.
Plus I have someone new to scrap :)

SwirlyHues Entry-Pretty,Pretty Please

This is my entry for the SwirlyHues Challenge over at Swirlydoos.
This is my daughter, Naomi, in a reflective moment at around age 4.
She is currently in middle school and being too hard on herself.
Being biracial in a mostly cacausian town, she feels like "one of the few chips in the cookie".
I struggled with, and unfortunately, continue to struggle with my own self-esteem issues.
More than anything, I do not want to pass that on.
The clean version of this song by Pink is so is powerful if you have never seen it.

The tutorial I chose was the water distressing technique-turned out kinda cool.
I wanted something that wasn't, well, perfect-get it?
Thanks for stopping by!

News!

I have exciting news to share!
I have been invited to join the fabulously talented creative team at Flying Unicorn !
I received  the news from Maggi on my birthday-what a cool present!

You MUST use a black and white photo. Your papers can be color if you wish, but the picture must be b&w.
Here is my LO for inspiration:

I call it "Strength" from the scripture Philippians 4:13
"I can do everything through Him who gives me strength."
This is my cutie-pie neice,Vivi, who many of you know has Cystic Fibrosis and so much strength and soul can be seen in her big eyes.
I combined a Lomo effect with the B & W in piknik for the "artsy" look :)

All papers and flowers are from the UNI store with the exception of these Recollection acrylic flowers. I added various findings such as broken plate pieces and earrings-I love going to the Goodwill or other thrift stores to see what I can re-purpose later on.
Thanks for visiting and check out the challenge for a chance to win:

Flying Unicorn-"Twirl Me Up" challenge

Frank over at Flying Unicorn, is hosting a "Twirl Me Up" Challenge
Frank says:
"You MUST use twine, string, or yarn in your layout, however it is not enough to simply add it on, it must "TWIRL" twist and bend freely on your layout, make it come ALIVE!"

So..here is my entry-all materials from the  UNI store except the twine...

My neice, Vivi, flying high in her swing-I edited out the background color using Photobucket then replaced the photographed rope for the twine. I went outside my comfort zone with the playful embellies and rub-ons but I wanted to continue that playful feeling..look how happy she is :)
Go check it out...play along...you could be a winner!

Layout Of The Week

March 3, 2012

Tracey Gregory

"Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

And if you come, when all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.

And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me
I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

This week we bring you this gorgeous Heartfelt layout by Tracey. The photo of Tracey and her son was taken the night of his senior prom. It was then Tracey realized that her little boy had become a young man, and soon, the following fall, he would be leaving for college. Her strong Irish roots reminded her of the ballad Danny Boy, and thus, a title for her gorgeous page was born.
Looking at this layout, we are also reminded of all of the beautiful rich green colors, reminiscent of Ireland. And don't miss the small picture of Tracey holding her son as a wee little one, tucked away in the corner among all of the beautiful flowers. And what a spray of flowers it is!! The layering, the composition, the beautiful warm feel of this LO just blew us away this week. We hope that you are inspired!! "

Thank you,Lisa, for such an honor!

Flying Unicorn's March Guest Creative Artist

I am so excited about our Guest Creative Team Member for March-  Jeni!!
Lets start with if you are not a follow of her blog run  now  and  do not miss the  incredible detailed artistic creations she  makes! She turns paper into  works of masterpieces and I know  I can not wait to see what she has done  with our  KOM for  March  ...  So  scroll  down, follow her blog and   glimpse at  her Art !

Hi I'm Jeni. I'm thrilled to be a part of such a diversely talented group of scrappers working with the Creative Team and Members of Flying Unicorn. I'm an Aussie with a Canadian dh, so we get to spend time in two beautiful countries, Australia and Canada. We have twins, a boy and girl who are growing up way too fast for me and my camera, and a dog Buddy.

Inspired by my Grandma's talent for crafts, I've always loved to create in some form or another. I've been a scrapbooker forever, lol. Even as a child I would take photos and write stories about them. I've been scrapbooking as we know it today for about 15 years. Although in the early days all we had were stickers! My style has changed over that time and with so many influences and fabulous products. Today, I guess I have two distinctly different styles Storybook/whimsical style usually in 3d, where I love to extend the photo and create a scene. I also like to create in a Shabby/arty/, sometimes messy kind of style. lol.

I been lucky to have had many opportunities in scrapbooking. For the past 5 yrs I've been a design team member on the Colour Team for Scrapbook Creations. I've authored regular features and three year long series of published articles, "What's Your Style?"and "Scrapping with the Stars" (astrology and scrapping). More recently, "Reality Bites" (scrapping about real life issues).
I've been published in the Australian magazines Scrapbook Creations, Scrapbooking Memories and For Keeps. Internationally in Canadian Scrapbooker, Memory Makers,
Scrapbooking Convention. I've been on a few teams over the years, recently, in 2010, Dusty Attic and in 2011, My Creative Scrapbook.
I'm a Midwife and Teacher by professions when I'm not scrapping. I'd like to say I'm a domestic engineer, but I'm not really all that domesticated...I'd rather be scrapping!

I'm so pleased for the opportunity to share my creations with you.

Flying Unicorn Jeans Challenge

Laura at Flying Unicorn is Hosting a Jeans Challenge for Fashion Month
She says: "I want you to use denim on your page....
you can use jean patches, cut up an old pair,
use denim look paper, whatever.......but you must use denim somehow

So..here is my entry, using my daughter, Naomi, as my "model":
Everything except the small blue bricks, the bling swirl and the crochet trim
I used the gorgeous 7 Dots Wonderland and Kaisercraft Sweet Nothing paper and applied gesso with a brick pattern stamp and highlighted it with Distress ink in Antique Linen. The Mistable trim was treated to Tattered Angels in Bronze and accented with Distress embossed Kaisercraft wooden flourishes.
I decided to incorporate denim into the layout by making these denim and leather flowers to complement the pic. I snagged a leather pocketbook at the local Goodwill for a $1 and a too-small pair of jeans from my daughter and traced flower layers that were cut from my cricut as a template. I topped them off with the cute fairy flowers from the UNI store and tufted them with some ivory flower soft and there you go!

Hope you liked them!
This was a fun challenge-why don't you check it out-look what you could win:
Have fun!

'Tis You Must Go and I Must Stay

This is my entry for the February Sketch over at Swirlydoos.

The pic is my son, Hayden, and I at the the picture taking session for his Senior Prom.
It seemed fitting for March, what with being Irish and all, to use the lyrics to "Danny Boy" as they are
so fitting for that moment in time. This is the one pic that he isn't wearing his Celtics hat in ironically.
I placed the little butterflies (courtesy of the generous Lisa Gregory) to represent him leaving and my staying behind. He's a sophomore in college now, so this LO is overdue but this kit with the Kaisercraft papers and the open birdcage were just perfect. Yes, that is moss..
Hop over to Swirlydoos if you want to see some real talent !
